The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reviewed the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and has endorsed the use of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 12-15. The CDC approval follows Monday’s emergency use authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and marks the final step in approving the Pfizer vaccine’s use for adolescents 12 years of age or older. The other two available vaccines – Moderna and Johnson & Johnson Janssen – are authorized for people age 18 or older.
Maniilaq Health Center will begin offering the Pfizer vaccine to children ages 12-15 beginning Monday, May 17th.
We will continue to travel throughout the Maniilaq service area to offer the Pfizer vaccine to residents, including to children ages 12-15.
